Rashaad Smith is a Charleston native with a lifelong passion for sports, leadership, and youth development. A 2012 graduate of Fort Dorchester High School, he excelled as a two-sport varsity athlete in football and basketball before continuing his athletic and academic career at Newberry College. There, he was recognized as an All-Conference defensive back and earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Sport Management in 2016.
Rashaad went on to complete his master’s degree in Sport Management from The Citadel in 2021, initially with aspirations of becoming a sports agent, which included time as an intern with the William Morris Endeavor (WME) in 2021. Along the way, he discovered a deep love for coaching and mentoring, developed during his time as a football operations and equipment intern with the Carolina Panthers and as a Football Operations intern at UNC Charlotte.
Over the past decade, he has dedicated himself to coaching both football and girls’ basketball spending most of that time giving back to his alma mater, Fort Dorchester High School. Today, he serves as the Defensive Coordinator of our Oceanside Landsharks football team, where he combines his expertise, discipline, and passion to develop student-athletes both on and off the field.
Beyond coaching, Rashaad is also an entrepreneur who manages multiple businesses in his free time. Driven and well-rounded, he values fitness, family, and community. He enjoys working out, traveling, and spending quality time with his girlfriend, Essence, and their daughter, Keaghan. Above all, Rashaad is committed to inspiring and empowering the next generation to chase their dreams with the same determination that has fueled his own journey.
