Chad Wilkes earned his BA in History from Clemson University, then went on to complete his Masters of Education in Educational Leadership. He has taught 9-12th graders in Government/Economics, Sociology, Psychology, World Geography, Civics and Law Ed.
Coach Wilkes grew up in Cheraw, SC, and graduated from Cheraw High School in 2010. He lettered in four sports while winning two 2A state championships in football. Coach Wilkes played college football at the University of New Hampshire where he won the CAA Commissioner's Award and was named to the CAA All-Academic team before transferring and finishing his degree at Clemson University.
Coach Wilkes was Head Coach for five years at C.E. Murray High School and Lamar High School, winning four region championships. Coach Wilkes recently married his wife Joy and spends his free time playing golf and going to as many sporting events as possible.

Oceanside is obviously a very special place that is centered around helping kids develop on the field and in the classroom which I believe makes it a perfect fit for me.
"I am excited about having the chance to build on the success of Oceanside football, as well as the athletic program as a whole, and work to take it to even greater heights. I have never been more excited than I am to work with the kids, parents, and community at Oceanside!"
Wilkes led the Landsharks to the SCHSL AA state championship game in 2022 and 2023, winning the schools' first football state title in 2023.
