Following a career as a standout prep and collegiate tennis player, Carlos Lozano became a part of the championship tennis program at Oceanside Collegiate Academy where he serves as Associate Head Coach.
A native of Mexico City, Lozano attended TecCem High, helping his tennis team to five national championships. He was recruited from there to attend Brigham Young University in Utah where he was a four-year standout for the Cougars. During his time in Provo he posted an 89-47 record as a singles player. He was even better in doubles competition, running up a career record of 92-36.
At BYU, Lozano earned All-Conference honors from the Mountain West Conference as both a singles and doubles player during his senior season, also earning All-America honors that year. His 85 singles victories are still tied for ninth in program history while his 49 career victories with doubles partner Gert Vilmes still stands as the all-time record at the school. The duo reached an ITA ranking of 14th in the nation during the 2001-02 season, reaching the NCAA Championship tournament.
Lozano was part of two Mountain West Conference championship teams during his time there while also earning his degree in International Business in 2003.
Following his collegiate playing career, Lozano landed in South Carolina where he was hired to work at Topspin Racquet & Swim Club in Lexington. While working at the club, Lozano continue to play tennis professionally, earning USTA South Carolina and USTA Southern Tennis Professional of the Year in 2014.
Lozano became the Director of Tennis at Topspin before moving on to become the Director of Junior Programs at the Long Cove Club on Hilton Head Island. In 2019 he was selected as the Director of Tennis at the Wild Dunes Resort, which is where he began working with Oceanside head tennis coach Shawn Harris.
Lozano and his wife, Kelli, have one son. Alex is a member of the OCA tennis team and is a junior this spring. The family has a pair of dogs, Tilly and Beni.
