Coach Harris has been involved in the Charleston area tennis scene for many years. He has served as the head tennis professional at Wild Dunes Resort since 2005. He became the head coach for boys and girls tennis at Oceanside Collegiate Academy in 2020.
He is a USPTA Certified Professional and has a NTRP Rating of 5.0 with more than 25 years of teaching experience.
A native of Rochester, NY, Harris played collegiate tennis at Monroe Community College in Rochester.
He started his coaching career as an Assistant Pro at the Tennis Club of Rochester from 1989-97. He made the move to South Carolina in 1997, serving as Assistant Pro at Palmetto Dunes in Hilton Head from 1997-2004. He became the Head Pro at the South Carolina Yacht Club in Hilton Head in 2004 before moving to Wild Dunes in 2006.
Harris led the Oceanside girl's tennis team to its first state title in 2021 and has now led the program to three consecutive state titles. Likewise, the OCA boys tennis team enters the spring having won three consecutive SCHSL state titles.
