Greg Hancox

A veteran Math teacher who has also worked as a swim coach and tennis coach, Greg Hancox comes to Oceanside Collegiate Academy from Greenville Technical College where he served as math instructor from 2017-23.

A native of Maryville, Tenn., Hancox attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Math Education in 1980. While at UT he was a member of the Pride of the Southland Marching Band. He was the youngest of four children, by 20 years. His mother worked at the Oak Ridge National Laboratories during the Manhattan Project while his father worked for Alcoa (Aluminum Company of America).

At Maryville High he was a member of the band and tennis team and competed on the Math team, winning the Tennessee Mathematics Teachers' Association Contest in the Advanced Topics Division for Calculus during his senior year.

Following graduation from UT he has attended graduate classes in Knoxville as well as at Furman University, Converse College, The Citadel, Clemson and the College of Charleston.

In addition to his time at Greenville Technical College, Hancox also taught Math at JL Mann High (2011-14) and Hannon Forrest Christian School (2014-17).

Hancox brings experience from previous roles at Neely Farm Jr. Tennis, Sportsclub Fitness & Wellness and Ignite Academy Co-op with a robust skill set that includes Coaching, Teaching, Secondary Education, Mathematics Education, Instructional Technology and more. He spent more than 14 years as the Director of Tennis at the Flowertown Tennis Academy in Summerville and was a USTA League Captain from 1980-2025.

Hancox has two grown children, Zach, who attended the Citadel and works for Michelin North America, and Andrew, who also attended The Citadel and is a Nurse Practioner in Boulder, Colo. He also runs his own video production company, Patriot Productions, that focuses on sports and weddings.
