Hailing from central Florida, Samantha Wilber Morgret joins the OCA faculty as a high school English teacher for the 2025-26 school year.
Morgret was born in Dallas, Texas, but her family moved to Boston, Mass., when she was an infant and then settled in Orlando, Fla., when she was eight years old. Upon reaching high school, she attended Foundation Academy in Winter Garden, Fla., where she was a cheerleader, played softball and was the student body president. She was also active in the Student Leadership Institute.
After high school she enrolled at Palm Beach Atlantic University where she was in the Honors Program. She had a double major in English and Biblical & Theological Studies, earning her Bachelors degree in 2021.
She went on from PBA to attend James Madison University for graduate school, earning a Master's degree in English in 2024.
While attending PBA she served as a writing coach and as assistant to the School of Ministry Administrator. She became the new student Orientation Coordinator and Event Planner in 2020.
The oldest of three children, her father worked for Reebok and in software development, Samantha's mother has her own business restoring furniture while her sister is an artist and has a small business of her own. Her younger brother is a sophomore at Clemson University where he is studying Sports Communication.
Samantha's husband, Chris, is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and is an Aquatic Specialist who works to help manage ponds and lakes. The couple met in college at Palm Beach Atlantic.
Morgret hopes to provide students at OCA with the same type of close interaction that she always craved from her instructors.
"Throughout my academic career, I've always had the type of relationship with my teachers where I felt they knew me personally," Morgret said. "Oceanside seems to have a close community of people and manageable class sizes that allow for this type of personal connection. I am also a big fan of sports in general, so Oceanside's athletic programs are a huge attraction as well."
Morgret knows what it takes to be successful as a writer, having had numerous short stories, essays and poems published since 2021. Outside of her own writing, she enjoys reading and listening to music. Some of her favorite books include Moby Dick, Thursday Murder Club, Land of Milk and Honey, Kitchen Confidential and Happy All the Time. Her musical tasted range from Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles and Bob Dylan to the Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra and Noah Kahan.
She is a huge fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics as well as the Clemson Tigers.
