Tricia Hargrove serves as the Head Cheer Coach at Oceanside Collegiate Academy, bringing extensive experience in cheerleading, student mentorship, education, communication, and program leadership. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Corporate and Organizational Communication and a Master of Science in Organizational Communication.
Prior to joining OCA, Tricia coached cheerleading at Palmetto Christian Academy from 2018–2026, working with varsity, junior varsity, and youth athletes and helping grow the program from non-competitive cheer into a successful competitive program. Her teams earned two SCISA 3A/4A Gameday State Championships in 2023 and 2025 and a State Runner-Up finish in 2024.
A Kentucky native, Tricia also has a strong personal background in competitive cheerleading. As a varsity cheerleader at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, Kentucky, she was part of four state championship teams and earned top-three finishes at both UCA and NCA Nationals.
Beyond athletics, Tricia previously served as an Academic Advisor and Instructor at the University of Kentucky, where she advised undergraduate students, taught freshman orientation, and supported student success and leadership development.
As Head Coach, Tricia’s focus is on developing confident athletes, building strong leaders, creating a positive and unified team culture, and representing OCA with pride, character, integrity, and professionalism. She is also focused on developing OCA’s first competition cheer team and building a program prepared for future SCHSL competition.
Tricia lives near OCA in Carolina Park with her husband, Jay; daughter, Tinley; and their golden retriever, Pippa.
