Hanahan, SC – After getting an unexpected week off as a result of Hurricane Helene, the Landsharks opened play in Region 6-AAA on the road at Wiley Knight Stadium in Hanahan.
It took about a quarter for the Landsharks (3-3, 1-0) to get their legs under them, but once they did, the Oceanside club rolled to a 49-7 victory over the Hawks (3-4, 0-1).
Sophomore quarterback
Aiden Manavian gave a standout performance, throwing for three touchdowns while leading the Landsharks to 394 yards of total offense, with 254 of those yards through the air. Senior
Will Virgilio was on the receiving end of two of the TD passes, one for 45 yards and the second for 40. Junior Terence Johnson, Jr., also had a TD reception for 10 yards, that coming after Oceanside blocked a Hawks punt.
The Landsharks got solid play on defense and special teams as well. Senior
Grayson Freeling had the biggest play when he scooped up a Hanahan fumble and returned the prize 65-yards for a late first half score, pushing the OCA lead to 28-7 at the half.
Oceanside added a pair of late touchdowns with the Landsharks' back-up players on the field. Junior
Zahki Muncey accounted for one of those scores on an 11-yard run.
The Landsharks will be back at Johnson Hagood Stadium this week for a region tilt against North Charleston (4-2, 0-1). The game, which will be Homecoming for Oceanside Collegiate Academy, is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
