Mt. Pleasant, SC – The Oceanside Collegiate Academy girls' lacrosse team opened its 2025 pursuit of a SCHSL state title on Tuesday night with a solid performance in a 16-6 victory over rival Lucy Beckham High in a match played at the Charleston County District 2 Stadium.

"Starting the season off with a tough Lucy Beckham team is never easy," Oceanside coach Ashley McCulloch said. "We are proud of our girls for handling the ups and downs of the game and coming together as a team down the stretch. With any new season, we have girls coming off injuries or new to the team and figuring out their roles and overall, we were pleased with how we finished the game."

The Landsharks were led to the season-opening victory by senior All-American Teagan Scott. The Clemson signee scored five goals and had three assists, scoring eight points on eight shots on goal. Scott also had six draw controls on 12 attempts and was a perfect 2-for-2 on free position attempts.

Junior Kaitlyn Boerst also had a solid outing, scoring five goals while notching four assists for nine points. She had seven shots on goal and picked up five ground balls while winning control on 10 of her 13 draw attempts. She was 2-of-4 on free position attempts in the game.

The Landsharks' other big scorer in the game was senior Cadyn Clark, who tallied four goals on just five shots on goal. Freshman Grace Rechtin also got in on the scoring with a goal and an assist while senior Lila-Jane Finlayson had a goal and two assists.

As a team, OCA converted on 16-of-27 shots on goal in the game and won 17-of-25 draws against the Bengals. The Landsharks allowed Beckham just 17 shots against junior keeper Sadie Belle Small, who recorded 11 saves. Lucy Beckham scored four of its goal from eight free position attempts.

The Landsharks will play their home opener on Thursday night at 6 p.m. when they host Dutch Fork High.
