Mt. Pleasant, SC – Another game on Tuesday night meant another easy victory for the Oceanside Collegiate Academy girls' lacrosse team, which improved to 3-0 on the season with a 17-2 thrashing of Chapin High.
OCA senior All-American
Teagan Scott scored six goals and had a pair of assists, earning eight total points, to lead the Landsharks to their third lopsided win in as many outings.
"We came into this game really focused on wanting to play a complete game, and I think we did that tonight," OCA coach
Ashley McCulloch said. "Our offense was clicking, and our defense was dominant and made a lot of great stops."
Junior All-American goalkeeper Sadie Bell Small did her part to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard, stopping eight of the 10 shots on goal she faced.
"She is playing at a really high level, which elevates the rest of the defense, and the overall team," McCulloch said.
In addition to Scott's six goals, the Landsharks got four goals from junior
Kaitlyn Boerst, three from senior co-captain
Lila-Jane Finlayson, two from senior
Cadyn Clark and one each from freshman
Grace Rechtin and sophomore
Sophia Paone.
As a team, OCA won 13 of 18 draw opportunities and was credited with 10 draw controls. The squad also forced 12 turnovers, with Boerst leading the way with three.
The Landsharks will return to action on Friday, opening a two-game road trip to North Carolina against Weddington High in Matthews, NC. The Warriors are off to a 2-0 start to the season. That game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start at the Matthews Sports Complex.
Oceanside will follow up on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. with a game against Providence Day School in Charlotte, NC. Like Waddington, the Chargers are 2-0 on the young season.
"We are looking forward to these games as we travel to face tough, out-of-state, competition," McCulloch said. "These games will be good tests for us and it will only get tougher as we go through the season. We'll need to be prepared every time we play."
