Mt. Pleasant, SC – The Oceanside Collegiate Academy softball team will open its 2025 regular season on Friday with games against Stratford and West Ashley as the Landsharks begin play in the Battle on the Bases Tournament at Wescott Park in Summerville.

Oceanside returns four seniors and three juniors from last spring when the team posted a 17-9 record with the season ending in the Lower State playoffs.

Coach Alecia Robinson enters her fifth season leading the Landsharks and, after splitting a pair of preseason exhibition games, is looking forward to seeing how her squad responds when the real games begin.

"We are eager to finally get some games in," Robinson said. "We have a lot of new additions to the roster this year who can really add depth offensively and defensively. We are currently battling through some injuries so this weekend will be a good opportunity for other athletes to get some good reps against great competition."

The Landsharks struggled in their first preseason scrimmage, falling to Fort Dorchester 6-1 on February 17. They came back this past Monday to record an 8-5 victory over Lucy Beckham, taking over the game with a four-run sixth inning. Senior Addison Miller got the fireworks started with a leadoff double and followed up by stealing third and home to tie the game. Freshman Alexa Miller then reached on a double of her own before junior Mya Rosenburgh doubled in two runs for a 7-5 OCA lead.

With Rosenburgh on third, freshman Hollis Rivers delivered a sacrifice fly to make it 8-5.

Rosenburgh started the game in the circle and did not allow a hit over five total innings of work. She pitched the first three innings before giving way to Addison Miller for the middle two. Rosenburgh then went back to the circle to pitch the final two frames and earn the win.

Overall, she pitched five innings without allowing a hit. She did surrender one unearned run while walking four and striking out eight.

The Landsharks totaled eight hits in the game, with Rosenburgh again leading the way with two, while also scoring two runs and driving home two more.

The regular season will begin on Friday afternoon with the Landsharks facing Stratford High at 6:30 p.m. and West Ashley High at 8 p.m. Play in the tournament will continue on Saturday and Sunday with results from the opening day of competition determining who and when the Landsharks will play.
