Mt. Pleasant, SC – It is that time of year again at Oceanside Collegiate Academy. Time for the OCA seniors to put on their painters' caps and get creative to paint their parking spots.
 
The annual OCA tradition is set to be held on Friday, September 12.
 
To participate in the event, seniors must submit a color design proposal to Principal Brown by Friday, Sept. 5, must have a valid OCA parking pass and must pay a $10 fee via cash or check at the front office.
 
Seniors and their assistants must provide all paint and supplies to create their masterpieces and to clean up after the work is finished. Other rules to participate include:

• Any questionable design will be evaluated and discussed. Variation from the approved design proposal will warrant surrender of the project. Senior parking design request proposal sheet must be done in color and must represent exactly what will be painted on your parking space to be accepted.
• The following will be prohibited for the designs:
  • No offensive language, pictures or symbols.
  • No negative or rude language.
  • Nothing political.
• Once a spot has been assigned/selected, no spot will be traded or switched among students.
• Students MUST use a water-based latex exterior paint. Students must purchase their own paint and supplies - this includes bowls and brushes.
  • Students will not use "Striping Paint" or any other "Raised" paint or Roofing Tar.
  • NO spray paint, glitter, or textured paint.
  • Students will not cover white painted parking lines.
  • Students must get their paint checked by OCA administration before beginning.
• Items to bring: Approved paint, broom to sweep off parking spot prior to painting, paint brushes/rollers/sponge, painters' tape/stencils, water bucket for dirty brushes, tray(s) for paint, chalk to sketch out design, towels/blankets to sit on, lawn chairs, pop-up tents for shade, sunscreen, trash bags, paper towels, water to drink.

Any Oceanside student who paints a parking spot without permission or vandalizes a senior parking spot will lose parking privileges and face disciplinary action and consequences.
 
IMPORTANT: To paint a parking spot, students must turn in the attached proposed creation form and have an OCA parking pass.
