Mt. Pleasant, SC - I hope everyone had a great weekend and is keeping up during this busy week as we finish up the month of April. Today is signing day for Landsharks who are going on to compete in their sports in college. We are all so excited about the bright future these students have ahead of them.

Congratulations to Oceanside Collegiate Academy Alumnus Monroe Freeling on being selected by the Carolina Panthers with the 19th overall pick in the NFL Draft. Our first NFL draft pick goes in the first round! Amazing. Enjoy the video from his introductory press conference in Charlotte. 
 

This past Thursday was College Decision Day. Seniors proudly wore their college shirts to represent where they are planning to attend, and had a party in our outdoor classroom. The weather was amazing and there was excitement in the air as we had pizza cookies and drinks as they had fun and took pictures. Senior please check and double check your senior list.

If you have a senior, please review the checklist. We also have a Senior meeting tomorrow, April 22, at 11:15 a.m. We will be going over this checklist with the seniors, talking about responsibilities and obligations as we finish out their time at OCA.

Mental Health & Morgan's Message

To promote mental health and support Morgan's Message last week, our lacrosse girls traveled down to Hilton Head Island High School. To promote Morgan's Message our OCA girls and HHIHS girls took a picture before the start of Thursday's game. OCA won 17-6. Deep Cleaning

This past Saturday we had our outside Deep clean. We had a great turnout of around 150 people who came and helped. Thanks to everyone who came out to clean and make our school look so nice.
   

Parking Reminder/School Safety

Just a friendly reminder that all vehicles parked on campus must be registered with Oceanside and have a school parking tag displayed. If your vehicle is not registered and/or does not have a tag displayed, you will be assessed a $50 parking violation fee.  If you have any questions, please stop by the front office.

Diving safely on school grounds: Please talk with your child about driving safely on school campus during or after school hours.

Upcoming Events

Next Thursday, May 7, we will have a student & parent informational meeting for the AirSharks Program at Mt. Pleasant Airport. The meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. We are planning to have another group of OCA students join the AirSharks this fall. The requirements are that you must be at least 16-years-old, have good grades and no referrals. If you are interested in the AirSharks Program, please come May 7 to learn more. You will meet the instructors, see the planes, hear from OCA students currently in the program and learn about what to expect when you decided to become an AirShark.

Cheer tryouts for the 2026-27 academic year will be held on May 15 (6-8 p.m.) and May 16 (10 a.m.-Noon).

Seniors Cap/Gown distribution is scheduled with Jostens for April 27 in the cafe from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. If you are a senior, or are the parent of a senior, please make sure to get your orders done ASAP. Visit lowcountrygrad.com to place those orders.

Dual Enrollment Final Schedule: It is that time of the year again. As we are coming to the end of the year it is final exam season.  Please see the schedule.

EOC's Testing Dates and Information

Students should come to their exams prepared with a charged Chromebook and should leave their cell phones at home or in their car. Students should eat a good breakfast before coming for their exams, but they may bring a water bottle and small snack if needed.
Testing times will be sent out later to student and parent emails. Remember, only students who are testing will attend school on those days except for Friday, May 1. All DE students need to come in that day as they are finishing up the year.

• Friday, May 1: English 2 - Writing ONLY
• Tuesday, May 12: US History
• Wednesday, May 13: Algebra 1 - Regular School Day
• Thursday, May 14: Biology and English 2 Reading

 

Spring Physical Day

We're hosting our annual Spring Physical Day on Saturday, May 16, from 9-11:30 a.m. in the OCA Café. This is your chance to knock out your required physical for the 2026–27 school year early and avoid the rush later. The cost is $20 per student.

Dual Enrollment

All students new to dual enrollment should have already applied to TTC for the 2026-27 school year.  If you have any questions about this process, please reach out to Mrs. Beckham.

Teacher Appreciation Week Is May 4-8

As you all know, we are so blessed to have many amazing teachers here at OCA. Teachers who truly care about your kids. We want to give back to our teachers and let them know how much we appreciate all they do during Teacher Appreciation Week.

Here is a look at our plans for next week:

• Monday: Teachers' Favorite Snacks. The teachers all filled out a survey that included a listing of their favorite snacks. 
• Tuesday: Coffee and Bagels 
• Wednesday: Bar-B-Q Lunch donated by board member, Mr. Elliott Summey
• Thursday: Pinnacle Charter Academies is donating lunch and gifts for the staff. Tumblers and gift cards!
• Friday: Pizza Coast Crust is donating lunch for OCA Staff on a Personal Learning Day
