MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. — Oceanside Collegiate Academy has named Sachin Patel its new head boys soccer coach, bringing more than 25 years of coaching, player development and soccer leadership experience to the Landsharks program.

Patel joins OCA with an extensive background spanning youth, club and high school soccer in both the United States and United Kingdom. A UEFA "B" licensed coach and former semi-professional player, Patel will lead a Landshark program with an emphasis on developing technically strong, tactically intelligent and accountable student-athletes while building a championship-level culture.

Born in Leicestershire, England, and raised in London, Patel developed within the English soccer system. His playing career included time in the Charlton Athletic F.C. Academy from the U14 through U17 levels as well as semi-professional experience with Gillingham FC.

His transition into coaching began in England as a youth coach with Charlton Athletic before Patel moved to the United States and began a lengthy career in player development.

Patel spent more than a decade with Augusta Arsenal Soccer Club, serving in coaching and academy leadership roles from 2000-12. He subsequently joined the staff at SC Surf/USA Mt. Pleasant, where he coached from 2012-20 and was part of a 2017 national championship.

In 2020, Patel co-founded FC Charleston, a nonprofit youth soccer organization, and has remained involved with the club's development. He has also served as a varsity head coach at Porter-Gaud since 2020.

Patel holds a UEFA "B" coaching license and has completed an extensive portfolio of additional coaching education, including the National Diploma of Coaching, English FA Senior Badge, NSCAA Goalkeeping Levels 1 and 2 and League Managers Association training. In 2024, he completed U.S. Soccer's Club Technical Leadership program, further developing his expertise in player pathways, coaching methodology and organizational leadership.

At Oceanside, Patel plans to combine those experiences to develop a program centered on technical excellence, tactical understanding, discipline and accountability, with an expectation that Landshark student-athletes develop both on and off the field.

Patel's professional career away from soccer is equally accomplished. He earned a Master of Science in Bioinformatics from the University of Oxford and bachelor's degrees in computer science and mathematics from Augusta State University, now Augusta University.

He currently serves as Director of Information Technologies at Charleston International Airport, overseeing technology infrastructure, cybersecurity and technology expansion initiatives. Previously, Patel served as Chief Technology Officer at the Medical University of South Carolina, where his work included leadership of digital health initiatives and oversight of a $40 million telehealth budget.

An entrepreneur and technologist with more than two decades of experience, Patel has also co-owned technology ventures and serves on the advisory board supporting joint computer science programs involving the College of Charleston, The Citadel and Charleston Southern University.

Patel now brings that combination of leadership, education and soccer experience to Oceanside Collegiate Academy as he begins the next chapter of Landshark boys soccer.
