Mt. Pleasant, SC – The Oceanside Collegiate Academy girls' basketball teams continued its hot start to the 2024-25 season by cruising past Pinnacle sister school Atlantic Collegiate Academy Tuesday night, downing the Armada 55-28.
The Landsharks improved to 9-1 on the season while the Armada fell to 1-7.
The Landsharks smothered the visiting Armada with a strong defensive effort, allowing Atlantic to score just nine points in the first half, and 15 points through three quarters.
Senior
Ella Mae Schepp got the Landsharks off to a fast start in the game, scoring 11 of her game-high 15 points in the first quarter as OCA raced out to a 19-6 lead. It was the other half of the Landsharks' captain duo, senior
Teagan Scott, who carried the load in the second quarter, scoring 10 of her 14 points as the lead grew to 33-9.
Junior guard
Josie Hanks scored five of her 10 points in the third quarter as the Landsharks continue to grow their lead to 42-15. Atlantic was able to get hot from the outside in the final quarter, knocking down a trio of three-point shots, but it was not nearly enough to make up ground on Oceanside.
Sophomore guard Cayleigh Johnson led ACA with seven points in the game.
The Landsharks have no time to reflect on the win, with two more games on the docket this week. They will host Waccamaw tonight at 6 p.m. at the OCA gym before travelling to Summerville on Friday for a 5 p.m. contest at Northwood Academy.
