Mt. Pleasant, SC – Hello Landsharks' students and families, I hope this message finds you well.
 
As you are all aware, OCA has faced adversity and significant challenges over the past month. I am consistently impressed by the resilience and dedication of our teachers and staff, who continue to work tirelessly for our students. Many members of the OCA team have stepped up during this time of need, and their commitment is truly appreciated.  
 
As we approach our Thanksgiving holiday break, I can't help but think we are so blessed in so many ways. Oceanside is an amazing school that has once again earned recognition for Excellence on our most recent school report card from the state!
 
OCA has an amazing staff that truly cares about kids and their well-being. Every day I see our teachers and staff members working hard to build positive relationships with our students and families. With the departure of our Guidance Counselor, Ms. Laura Peirano, we have been blessed with Ms. Tiffany Richardson coming to Oceanside with more than 15 years of experience. She also has experience in the mental health field. 
 
As for the future of our administrative team, we have received a lot of interest over the past two weeks. While we work our way through the many applicants for the permanent principal position, we have had many faculty members step up into leadership roles and help take on those duties. This is a great opportunity for our teachers and staff to grow professionally. The OCA staff is a team, all working together for a common goal to provide our students the best possible education in a safe, small and family-center setting. 

Following the OCA tradition, we had our faculty Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday. Our faculty enjoy an amazing meal that was catered by Dish and Design. Before our dinner, we had some board members who spoke, thanking the staff and showing their gratitude for our faculties' hard work and dedication. OCA is blessed to have this amazing faculty.
 

Powderpuff Football

On Wednesday we had so much fun watching our girls compete in a Powderpuff Flag Football tournament. Congratulations to the winning team, "Kitty Cat, Meow Meow"!
 

Landshark Athletics

Congratulations to the OCA girls' tennis team for winning its fifth consecutive SCHSL state title. What an incredible accomplishment. Freshman Maevelyn Deford followed up the team state title by sweeping through the individual tournament to capture Class 1A-3A Individual Championship. She didn't lose more than one game in any match.
 
The OCA boys' volleyball team also brought home the hardware earlier this month, winning a second straight SCHSL crown. They gave an impressive performance in topping Travelers Rest High for the title.
 
The girls' volleyball team capped its fantastic season with a Lower State crown, while the girls' golf team finished fourth in the state tournament.
 
The Landsharks' football team will continue its hunt for a third consecutive championship tonight when they host Dillon High. With a victory, OCA will host the winner of the match between Loris and Newberry next week for the Lower State title and a berth in the Class AAA championship game.

Not to be forgotten, the Oceanside basketball teams began their seasons this week and will be cranking things up for real after the Thanksgiving holiday.
