Mt. Pleasant, SC – I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and a restful fall break. We have a very busy upcoming week at Oceanside Collegiate Academy so please read all the information below.
 
A couple of notes and reminders:

• We have campus tours scheduled each Tuesday at 1 p.m. Please invite anyone who might be interested in attending OCA next year to come to one of these tours.
• Our next Shark Talk meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday, December 9, at 5:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity to interact with members of our faculty and staff and learn about our school and programs. Please RSVP via this link.
• We have had amazing interest in our search for the next Principal at OCA. Our board will have plenty of solid candidates to choose from to lead our school next year.

Fall Semester

We only have 2½ weeks left until the first semester comes to an end. Please make sure you are checking your child's grades and progress in online classes. If you don't have the PowerSchool parent portal, please reach out to the school and we will get that information for you. Also, your child has a PowerSchool account, and they can show you their high school grades. If they are in Dual Enrollment classes, your child can also show you their DE grades and how they are doing in D2L, which is the learning platform Triton Community College uses for all their students.
 
I want to make sure every student has the tools they need from this great team of educators because we all want our students to finish strong!

Virtual SC Students

Virtual SC Exams are next week.  If your child takes VSC courses, please check your email for very important instructions. Students may be required to pay a fee to take the exam virtually or be in mandatory attendance on Monday, December 8.

If you or your student would like to take the VirtualSC exam virtually, please use the link provided above to register. Once you have registered for a virtual exam, please notify me so I can remove you from the in-person roster for December 8 at 7:45 a.m. at Oceanside.
 
We recommend registering for a virtual proctor at the beginning of the exam window in case any technical issues arise that would require attending the in-person exam at Oceanside. Please note, there will be no make-up dates at OCA; the only in-person exam opportunity is on December 8 at 7:45 a.m.
 
Students must follow all requirements for the virtual proctor, including having a working camera, a functioning computer (no phones are allowed), and valid identification. Please carefully review all instructions from MonitorEDU and/or VirtualSC and direct any questions to them.

Football Signing Day

We are excited to announce that our first Football Signing Day will take place on Wednesday, December 3, at 11:15 a.m. We will operate on a special bell schedule that day to allow our students and staff to attend.
 
Congratulations to our OCA football team, which advanced through the Lower State Championship last Friday and will play for a third consecutive title this Friday at noon in Orangeburg. Please go support our Landsharks as they look to make history. We are so proud of them and wish them the best of luck.
 
We are excited for Friday's football game and want to support our student community in attending and cheering on the Landsharks. Attendance at the game may be counted as an excused absence under the following conditions:

• Parent Notification
  • A parent or guardian must notify the Attendance Office no later than Thursday at 3:35 p.m. that their student(s) will be attending the game.
• Academic Check-In
  • The student must check in with each of their teachers prior to Friday to arrange any makeup work or to submit completed assignments in advance.
• Verification at the Game
  • Students must check in at the game with either Coach Meyer or Mr. Barrineau to confirm attendance.

Students who complete all three steps will have their absence recorded as excused. Thank you for your support and cooperation. We look forward to a great afternoon and a strong showing of Shark Pride!

Graduation

Graduation date and time has been set! Graduation is scheduled for Friday, May 29, at 11 a.m. and will be held at Seacoast Church.
