Talk of The Tank - Warmer Days Are Ahead

Talk of the Tank 2-3-26

OCA Calendar | 2/3/2026 3:20:00 PM

Mt. Pleasant, SC – The cold weather just seems to keep coming at us but, have faith Landsharks, warmer days are just ahead. I sure hope everyone is staying safe and warm during this cold stretch.

Our E-Learning Day went well on Monday. My hope is this will be our last cold spell and spring is right around the corner.

We had another amazing week at OCA last week! We have concluded the hiring process and have a committed principal for the future of Oceanside. We will be making an announcement next week to make introductions. Our new principal is making notifications to current school and district officials before we can make our announcement.

This Friday we have a Feeding Frenzy pep really to celebrate winter sports. We will have an adjusted bell schedule and expect all students to be at the Feeding Frenzy. It is a lot of fun and students will enjoy the event. We hope everyone will come out on Friday night to cheer on our basketball teams as they take on Hanahan.

Congratulations to Cricket Trubey and Peter Jones for winning January's Standout! The Standout Award goes to a faculty member who rises above and goes beyond their responsibilities in everything they do..

Peter Jones"Mr. Jones consistently does an exceptional job maintaining our school facilities and ensures a clean, safe and welcoming environment for students and staff," Ms. Iriart said. "He goes above and beyond the call of duty in every aspect of his work.

"From routine maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs to addressing issues like ant hills and facility concerns, he handles every task with professionalism, care and dedication. We are truly grateful for the pride he takes in his work and for the positive impact he has on our school community."

?Ms. Trubey is such a huge blessing to OCA. Cricket works behind the scenes and does not want to be credited. With all the administrative changes this year, she has stepped up in a big way and makes sure the job gets done, and done well. Cricket is the master of Powerschool and data at OCA. We are so blessed to have her at OCA and thank Cricket for all she does for our students and families!

This week is  National Counselor's week. Schools across the nation share appreciation for their school counselor. Please take a moment to recognize Tiffany Richardson by emailing her a kind note (trichardson@landsharks.org), giving her a hand-written thank you note (homemade notes are the best), or just by stop by her office to and say hi. In a small school like OCA, she has to balance much more than "Counseling", so we are very grateful for her dedication to our students!

Click on this link for Ms. Richardson's newsletter. There is a lot of important information in her letter. Please take time to read it.
