th straight win for the Oceanside team.
"We played well, but we don't have time to celebrate with a quick turnover before playing Fox Creek on Thursday," Oceanside coach
Jennifer Fort said. "We are going to go into this next round like it could be our last home game of the year. We are going to remain focused on being disciplined on both offense and defense."
Junior setter
Ellie Burgess was one of the standouts on Tuesday, recording eight service aces in the win over Loris. Junior middle hitter
Brianna Bowman had nine kills and junior
Chloe Millard had six kills. Freshman Jillian Boylston chipped in with five service aces.
The Predators from Fox Creek advanced to face Oceanside with a 3-0 victory over Waccamaw on Tuesday, improving their record to 13-5-1 on the year. The Predators lost in the second round of the AA state tournament last year.
The Landsharks and Predators have faced two common opponents this year – Silver Bluff and Orangeburg-Wilkinson. Oceanside swept OWHS twice and opened the playoffs with a sweep of Silver Bluff. Fox Creek swept Silver Bluff twice in the regular season but lost to Orangeburg-Wilkinson 2-0 in a late August tournament match.
The winner of Thursday's match, which is set for 6:30 p.m., will advance to host the winner of Hanahan vs. Orangeburg-Wilkinson for the Lower State title on Tuesday, November 12. The Class AAA state championship match is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. and will be hosted by the top remaining seed.
