Charleston, SC – The Oceanside Collegiate Academy Landsharks volleyball team posted its third consecutive victory on Thursday night, sweeping North Charleston on the Cougars' home court.
The Landsharks improved to 5-3 overall on the season and to 2-0 in Region 6-AAA play.
OCA made a statement with a decisive opening set victory, 25-9, and then continued to dominate the rest of the way, winning the second set 25-13 before closing out the match in the third set 25-10.
"It was a group win where we focused on tough serving and controlling our side of the court," OCA coach Jennifer Court said.

Ellie Burgess highlighted the focus on serving with 12 service aces in the match.
It was OCA's second region win of the week, after the Landsharks swept Hanahan on Tuesday night at the OCA Gym. That match started with a close-fought battle in the opening set before Oceanside pulled out a 26-24 victory. The Landsharks then completed the sweep by winning the second set 25-17 and the third 25-15.
Oceanside's junior varsity took a 2-0 victory on Tuesday against Hanahan, winning 25-10 and 25-15. Caitlin Mordecai and Amiya Stevens led the Landsharks with five kills each in the match. Emma Brannon chipped in with four kills. The JV match scheduled against North Charleston was canceled because the Cougars did not have enough players to have a team.
"The win over Hanahan was a really great win for our team," coach AJ Koele said. "We can definitely clean up a few of our unforced errors, but it was a solid win against a scrappy team."
The Landsharks will continue in region play next week when they host Battery Creek at the OCA Gym on Tuesday, September 17. The JV match is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start with the varsity set to follow at 6:30 p.m.
