Orangeburg, SC – The Oceanside Collegiate Academy girls volleyball team went on the road Tuesday night to face Wilkinson High in Orangeburg in Region 6-AAA play.

Despite getting a stern challenge from the Bruins, the Landsharks prevailed 3-0. In the JV match, Oceanside posted a 2-0 victory, winning the sets 25-8 and 25-9.

"They had the best crowd we have seen so far this season," Landsharks coach Jennifer Fort said. "It was great to play in a loud environment and work through all the communication issues that come with that. The team really came together and worked hard for each set win."

The Landsharks took the opening game by a score of 25-22 and were then pushed to a 26-24 score in the second set. Oceanside was able to put the match away with a 25-18 score in the third set to clinch the victory.

Senior setter Lexi Duplessis led the Landsharks with 22 assists to go with 13 kills in the match. Junior middle hitter Brianna Bowman added 14 kills to help Oceanside to the victory.

The Landsharks were scheduled to be back on the road on Thursday night to face Hanahan in region play, but those matches were canceled due to the threat of severe weather from Hurricane Helene. The next scheduled match will be on Tuesday, next week, when OCA hosts North Charleston.

"We will be playing a tough Hanahan team in their environment, so I am excited to see how we used the win on Tuesday to help us prepare for Thursday night," Fort said.

The Landsharks posted a straight-set victory over North Charleston back on September 10.
