OCA Calendar | 4/21/2026 6:37:00 PM
Mt. Pleasant, SC - We are getting closer to the end of the year and things are very busy, but exciting!
This past week was a great week at OCA as we got back into the swing of things, and we have a lot more upcoming events to look forward to.
Earlier today we had our spring Feeding Frenzy pep rally and we had so much fun honoring our spring sports teams. We also played a lot of games. OCA has the best pep rallies!! Enjoy these pictures. There are some good ones, even a couple of me getting a pie in the face.

Senior Checklist!
If you have a senior,
please review the checklist. We also have a Senior meeting tomorrow, April 22, at 11:15 a.m. We will be going over this checklist with the seniors, talking about responsibilities and obligations as we finish out their time at OCA.
Making Math fun!
Ms. Robinson and Ms. McCann, two amazing math teachers, did a really cool project in their Algebra II classes where students worked in groups to design their own game for game night! They worked together to create a challenging and fun game their classmates could play to review skills from this academic year.
Students created more than 40 questions of their own from the curriculum and skills they have learned as the basis of their game. Upon completion, they worked through a series of probability questions to determine whether the game they created was fair or not for the players. After they finished the work and project, students did a gallery walk of the projects and played the games created by their classmates.

Big Day For OCA Alum

This Thursday will be a huge day for OCA Alum Monroe Freeling. The NFL Draft is being held in Pittsburgh this year, and Monroe is expected to be among the players selected in the very first round.
A member of the class of 2023, Monroe took advantage of his educational opportunities at Oceanside and graduated after playing just three seasons at the University of Georgia and was named to the All-SEC second team this past season.
After he gave an impressive performance at the NFL Draft Combine earlier this spring, rumors have been swirling as to where he might land on draft day, but Monroe has told everyone his has spoken with that is doesn't matter to him where he goes.
"I've talked to a lot of teams, and I've met with a lot of teams," Freeling said. "I visited a couple of teams. What I have heard from a lot of my teammates throughout this whole draft process who have gone through it already is that the teams they really thought they were going to go and were convinced, were not the teams they went to. Some said they actually went to someone they never talked to."
Freeling has played both left and right tackle in the past, and where he plays in the NFL will be determined in large part by which team selects him. But, like the team, Monroe has said it doesn't matter to him what position he plays.
"I'll play anywhere," Freeling said. I'll be a jack of all trades. You put me at right, I'll learn right. You put me at left, I'll learn left. You put me at center, I'll play center. Wherever you need me to be, that's where I'm gonna be. I'm a football player at the end of the day. Especially, playing offensive line, you have to know how to play all positions just to play one.
"So, as for whatever team drafts me, put me at right, put me at left, I'm up for whatever. I've had experience at both. I was a swing tackle my sophomore year, so I got some ample experience in games. Probably like 300 snaps maybe, but that's about four games, so that's enough."
Monroe has been ranked as high as No. 7 in terms of offensive players in the draft. The team most rumored to be his future home is the Detroit Lions, who have the 17
th overall pick in the draft.
If it is the Lions, he will get to hear his name called by a Detroit football legend, Calvin Johnson, who was the second overall pick in the 2007 draft out of Georgia Tech. The Lions announced that Johnson, who was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2018 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021, will announce the teams' pick.
Other teams known to have shown interest in Freeling include (Pick): Cleveland Browns (6 & 24), Kansas City Chiefs (9), Miami Dolphins (11), Los Angeles Rams (13), Minnesota Vikings (18), Carolina Panthers (19) and Pittsburgh Steelers (21).
For friends and family who want to be a part of this special day, there will be an NFL Draft watch party on Thursday evening at the
All-American Sports Bar, 545 Belle Station in Mount Pleasant.
